I've checked on our systems and can confirm that unfortunately your order was not successful. Please be assured you have not been charged for this failed online order.
You might already know that card transactions online are a two-part process. Firstly, when you place an order, River Island contacts your bank to make sure the funds are available and to inform them that we will shortly be requesting payment. Then, once the order has been successfully processed, we contact the bank again to ask for payment to be made. It is at this point that the money is taken by River Island.
If for any reason the order is not successful, as with your order, we do not ask for the money, however, the bank would have already reserved the amount. This looks like River Island has taken the payment but we haven’t.
In effect, the money is still in your account but is temporarily unavailable pending your bank releasing it back to you. However, I assure you that River Island hasn’t taken and will not be taking the money. This is a process that only your bank has control over but should take no more than 5 working days to resolve.
To prevent your orders failing in the future we would ask that you please confirm the billing address entered matches the address your payment card is registered to. Also that the last 3 digits on the back of the card is correct.
If you need any further advice, we would advise that you speak to your bank directly.
